“I know by defending myself I’m just going to encourage the trouble again but I know all these things they’re accusing me of aren’t true AT ALL.”
The blog “nativeamericanhallofshame” is a blog full of snobbery and think they have some sort of authority to police Tumblr and judge people that they don’t even know. I’m not racist, or ignorant, but this blog has decided that I am, because of course they just know me that well.
They say they aren’t bullies, but they just have very wrong methods. Shaming people isn’t the way forward! Shaming people for their mistakes is wrong, but educating them is right!
I use my example of a little child, if two gay men/women walked past holding hands and the child says “they can’t do that!” a parent would (hopefully) teach the child, and not shame him into thinking it’s a bad person.
Why is this any different?
Are you saying you want to be treated like a child? Okay.
See, I would sit down and educate a child because they lack the tools and reasoning abilities to go and research what happened/what they did wrong. I assume you are a rational adult with a computer that knows how to use Google.
(Also your example is worded funny, hopefully a parent would teach them that being gay is natural, but there are many ways to do that, personally my mother might have actually made me, you know, ashamed of such an outburst because that would keep me from doing it again.)
PoC are not here to educate you. You want education? Go to school, go to the library, go to Google. Otherwise?
I checked out Nativeamericanhallofshame and it was full of awesome. It is exactly what tumblr needs. A very clear, concise message is given to offenders, with a link back to the main page that has a ton of educational resources. I’m going to follow and you should consider doing it too! (also I’m vaguely curious as to what the OP did but that’s beyond the point)
Using SJ language to promote your bigotry. Nice!
